As co-owner of The Aerial Lab, a circus and aerial arts studio, I wore many hats including aerial dance coach, administrative lead, marketing manager, and more throughout our six years of service to the Grass Valley community.
This experience was a beautiful way to learn about community building, the power of art and creativity, the transformation and confidence building that can happen through learning a challenging skill like circus, and of course the wide variety of hands-on business skills it takes to run a studio that had 2-7 classes a day 7 days a week, with 13 regular teachers, guest traveling instructors, performances and events, and more!
My role as marketing manager involved everything from website management via Weeble, newsletter graphics and copy creation via Constant Contact, project management using Slack, studio sales & event coordination using Canva, Gimp, Adobe Suite, and community collaboration.
Marketing & Ticket Sales for The Aerial Lab’s "HerStory"
Led the promotional campaign for HerStory, a yearlong aerial production with a cast of over 30 performers. The campaign included:
Producing a high-quality preview video
Posting engaging content twice a week
Running a targeted flyer campaign
Coordinating an interview with the local radio station KVMR
Additional promotional efforts that led to a sold-out opening show and a nearly sold-out matinee at the Miner’s Foundry Cultural Center
Promoting "The Magic Mine" Youth Circus Program Culmination Show
Developed a comprehensive marketing strategy for The Magic Mine, a youth circus program culmination show. Key contributions included:
Designing and launching a website to centralize event information and ticket sales
Creating a downloadable and print-friendly 15-page playbill to enhance audience engagement and provide sponsor visibility
Securing $2,000 in sponsorships to support show costs
These efforts led to a 10% increase in ticket sales, strengthening community support and financial sustainability for the program.
